With her powerful voice, fearless songwriting, and undeniable stage presence, Rebecca Porter has carved out a place to call home in Americana and independent country music.
 

Born in Guam and raised in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Porter’s music is rooted in the rugged honesty of Appalachian storytelling while shaped by her CHamoru heritage and lived experiences. Her distinct perspective offers a fresh take on traditional country, pushing the genre’s boundaries while honoring its roots. As Ed Helms’ Good Country wrote in its Spring Picks, “Rebecca Porter brings together Appalachia and the Pacific islands with her singular style of honky tonkin’ country... her identity and perspective bring in delightful subversions to so many expectations of the genre.”
 

Porter’s breakout 2023 EP, Queen of the Local, earned national attention and led to her inclusion in Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country Class of 2024, multiple features on Good Country, and an appearance on NPR’s Mountain Stage in 2024.

Her 2025 debut album, Roll With the Punches, delivered an unflinchingly personal collection that balanced defiance with tenderness. More than a record, the album became a bold testament to resilience and self-realization, and further solidified Porter’s place in the American roots landscape. The Bluegrass Situation praised the album as “... effortlessly timeless while overtly contemporary and forward-looking.”
 

As 2026 draws to a close, Porter builds on a year of momentum and career-defining milestones with the release of a poignant trio of songs. In “Babies Raising Babies,” “Bite of the Devil,” and “Long Time Coming,” Porter underlines her signature sound while confronting the realities of lived experiences of dysfunctional families, the opioid epidemic, and racism.
