Between her powerful voice, fearless songwriting, and undeniable stage presence, Rebecca Porter has steadily built a reputation as one of country and Americana’s most compelling emerging artists. With the upcoming release of her debut album Roll With the Punches—out August 8, 2025—Porter delivers a raw, unflinching, and deeply personal collection of songs that showcase both her grit and her grace. More than just a record, Roll With the Punches is a bold testament to resilience, self-realization, and the hard-earned wisdom that comes from surviving life’s toughest battles.
Born in Guam and raised in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley, Porter’s music is steeped in the rugged honesty of Appalachian storytelling while reflecting her Pacific Islander heritage and lived experiences. Her distinctive perspective offers a fresh take on traditional country, pushing the genre’s boundaries while honoring its roots. As Ed Helms’ Good Country (Spring Picks) notes, “Rebecca Porter brings together Appalachia and the Pacific islands with her singular style of honky tonkin’ country... her identity and perspective bring in delightful subversions to so many expectations of the genre.”
Porter’s breakout EP Queen of the Local (2023) turned heads nationwide, earning her a spot in Rissi Palmer’s Color Me Country Class of 2024, multiple features on Good Country, and a coveted appearance on NPR’s Mountain Stage in 2024. With the release of her new single “Shadow of Doubt,” Porter sets the tone for her debut LP. As The Bluegrass Situationraved, “This is gunslinger, black-and-white western film, black-cowboy-hat-wearing country (& western!) that’s effortlessly timeless while overtly contemporary and forward-looking.”
At its core, Roll With the Punches is an album that stares down the past while forging a path forward—an excavation of trauma, survival, and hard-won strength. “For a long time, I didn’t feel like I had the support or the space to tell these stories,” Porter says. “Now, I do. And I’m not holding anything back.”
In a music industry that too often sidelines voices like hers, Porter refuses to be overlooked. With Roll With the Punches, she isn’t just introducing herself—she’s making a statement. Rebecca Porter is claiming her place not only in country music but in the broader American roots landscape. Because for her, survival isn’t just about enduring—it’s about rising, reclaiming, and roaring back stronger than ever.
